Problem running VirtualBox over a ssh tunnel

Post by baf »

Ok here comes a tough one.

I'm running virtualbox 3.0.4 puel on a fedora 11 machine on console everything works fine.
But when I ssh in to that machine from a mac running OSX 10.5.8:
I start VirtualBox no problem
Start my guest all ok. But I can't use the normal 4 key. All other keys are OK.
Running xev and pressing a 4 gives nothing no reaction at all. I can use the 4 in direct xterm on that linux machine without any problem.
I have seen this earlier when I ran against another linux machine and did the same. Ideas very welcome.

Oh and the guest is an xubuntu 9.04 desktop.

Have you tried a different program than xev? Just to see if xev was causing the problem?
The only other thing that I have heard that caused number problems was rdesk and having to add the -N switch to sync the numlocks.

Hummm,

Then the other thing that comes to mind is the MAC keyboard. Sorry to say I do not have one to try this with, but there must be a conversion (combination) that inserts the number 4. You may need to seek help from the Devs if you can not find any other information on this.
