No USB Support

Post by misterD »

Ever since I upgraded VirtualBox to version 3.04, USB devices aren't recognized. If I click an Add Filter From Device, all I get is <no available devices>. Previous versions of VirtualBox would register my HP printer, my Epson scanner, and my memory sticks as valid USB devices. And they would be accessible from within the client operating system. I am running WIN XP Pro as the host. Anyone else have this problem, and is there a way around it? Thanks.
Thanks,

Don

It seems that now that Sun was bought by Oracle, and VMware trashed its free VM server since the release of version 2.0, we don't have any gratis and good virtualization option to the desktop environment anymore. RIP VirtualBox! USB is a good example of a thing that used to work a few releases ago, and now is simply garbage.

USB support is not perfect but it is at least working. I have to reboot every so often but I can stand it. It is for free anyway.
