Do VBox versions prior to 3.0.0 take advantage of multi-cores built in the CPU, or merely one of them indeed? Any official reference? thx!

Prior to v3 VBox did 'some form' of loadbalancing between all the cores, v3 has SMP.

For the H/W with multi-cores but w/o VT-x/AMD-V, w/o HT, fall back to VBox versions < 3.0.0 make the guest VM faster, right?
[3.0.4]Can't increase to the number of host CPU cores?

SMP depends on vt-x. If a VM is faster... it all depends how well SMP has been implemented, SMP should speed up the Guest but so far I haven't seen any comparing tests.
