Hello all,

I need help on how to access a snapshot that I made.
I made a snapshot and used the snapshot for a while and got important data in there. I had to reinstall windows om my PC and also reinstalled VirtualBox.
I can use the original VDI but I have no clue how I can access the snapshot. I dont need to restore it but I do need to recover de data in there.
I tried to open it as a harddisk but this does not work. I think due to the {} the harddisk manager does not work , I also tried to use VboxManage cloneHD but again it will not work.
Does anyone know what I can do to get access to this snapshot {xxxx}.vdi file ?

Thanks Bardo

The main VDI is tied to the snapshot(s) and the xml files have references between them as well, if you have the original vdi and snapshot(s) then you need to manually rebuild the xml files, for example by creating such a (new) situation and comparing the xml files with what you need.

Solved the problem.

Created first a new snapshot. Then I openend the xml files (with wordpad) and changed the uuid's of the new snapshots in to the ones of the old snapshots.
(For anyone else needing this advice. There are 2 xml files that you need to change. first the main virtualbox.xml and then your machine xml file.
these files are normally in c:\documents and Settings\adminstrator\.virtualbox
