Problem with Warcraft 2 BNE on Windows XP guest, OS X host

I'm trying to get the game, Warcraft 2 BNE, working on my iMac.
Everything is working great using a windows XP guest, including the networking, except that I can't use the key combinations "control+1" and "control+2". Unfortunately, for this particular game, not being able to use those two key combinations is a pretty big deal breaker.
"control+3" through "control+0" do work though, oddly enough. Any thoughts or potential fixes?
