Try to start VBoxManage in Host and it closes

Basically here's my problem:

When I try torun the VBoxManage application in Windows Vista, it runs for a couple of seconds, some text shows up that I can't read because it goes too fast, and it closes immediately.

I need to get a file off the VM (the guest is Server 2008 Trial)
I want to do either shared folders or usb/external HD method, because I don't know a free website/host that will let me upload a 35MB file.

I can't seem to get either of the methods to work, and with some research it appears that I need to use VBoxManage to type some commands in, such as net use x: vboxsrv\sharedfolder (yes I know that's off a bit but I'm too lazy to look up the exact command for this post)

Any suggestions?

Windows -> start -> run -> "cmd" -> enter, do your thing there instead of clicking on a CLI tool.

Lazy people should be ignored :P. Really, read the user manual, it will make so much more clear for you. You're way off here talking about needing to run vboxmanage. The parameters you talk about is for the net use command, entered in the Guest OS, not the Host.

Yeah yeah, I've got the manual open and I got the impression from reading it that I needed VBoxManage to run these commands. Initially I was using the command prompt.
I've already tried the command prompt on both the VM guest and on the host machine. It keeps telling me "path not found," when I type net use x: \\vboxsvr\sharedfolder

I guess I need to look into it more, maybe I dont have the shared folder set up properly. I just created it on the Virtualbox settings menu for the VM.

Have you installed guest additions in the guest?
