Hey, I've been doing some reading on the forums, but not finding quite what I'm looking for. I have a virtual system up and running. My host machine is running Windows XP Pro w/ SP3. My guest machine is running Debian 5.0.2 with primary functions as a webserver and a source code repository.

My network setting for the host are as follows:

Adapter Type: Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop (8254OEM)
Attached to: Bridged Adapter
Name: Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN

This configuration was working and allowing my Guest to send and receive requests from the rest of the network. However, I ran the upgrade to VirtualBox 3.0.2 and now I can no longer access any external machine from my Guest, for some of the web development I am doing, I have to be able to get out to the outside world, which I could do previously. Can anyone assist me in getting my Guest back to a working order?

What version did you upgrade from?

I wish I had that information, but I don't, my best guess is whatever the stable version prior to 3.0.2 is as this was the first upgrade I had done. I installed it initially maybe 2 or 3 months ago on this machine.

About the only thing that I can think of that could cause this problem for you as long as you had version 2.X is a failed install of the upgrade.
You can try to reinstall by using the following:
Right click on the install program and then left click on run as... Admin.
Select repair and watch the screen.
When it is complete then reboot the Host machine and see if it all works now.
Be sure to reinstall the new guest additions on the guests and reboot them.

I got my problem resolved.

I tried doing a repair install which didn't change things at all. I opened up another Guest system which was running Windows XP and it was having the same problems so I ruled out it being an OS configuration problem.

While doing further research I ran across the article below:

I know the article was regarding an older version of VirtualBox, but I thought "What the hell".

Here's what I did.

I went into my device manager and disabled all of my Network Devices.
I then Uninstalled the VirtualBox Host Only Network Adapter
I went ahead and did a complete uninstall of VirtualBox and followed that up with a reboot.
After rebooting, I went back through the VirtualBox installation.
I then went in and Re-enabled my network devices verifying that there was a new VirtualBox Host Only Network Adapter.

Upon launching my Guest system my networking seems to be back up and running as it was before the network.
