Hello Can anyone help me please.

I have virtual box setup on a winxp machine. I have CentOS runnig redhat on the virtual machine.

I want to use the machine primarily for hosting websites for development work with PHP MySQL etc.

I can see web pages on the redhat server in fire fox and all seems to be working ok.

I now want to be able to see the webpages from the winXP machine (client).

How do I configure the network setting to achieve this.

ifconfig on the server returns

ip 192.168.56.1 255.255.255.0

I looked at the settings in Virtual Box and have PCnet-Fast III (Internal Network, 'intnet')

On the XP machine I have a nework connection called VirtualBox Host Only Network. Which is set to the above IP
I can ping this IP and get a reply. I assume this is only pinging the card though.

I can't see any pages from the XP machine.

How do I set this up please?

Switch to host-only mode and add a second adapter for NAT. That's what works for most people.
I have not messed with Internal myself yet but those that have ended up switching.
I think that it is time for me to do some experimenting so I will play with Internal today some time.

Look for a firewall issue in both.
Also the number scheme should be unless you have changed something:
Host = 192.168.56.1
guest = 192.168.56.10
So if you want to use FQDN you would need to add this to the hosts file on the XP machine. ( 192.168.56.10 MyServer) replace MyServer with the name you want to use.
