VirtualBox won't start, impedes shutdown

Post by Vince3 »

The first time I installed VirtualBox, it ran fine. I got a Joomla appliance working great on it. After awhile though VirtualBox just stopped opening. I get VirtualBox.exe processes in the Task Manager, and they kill just fine. But VBoxSVC.exe won't kill, many times forcing a hard shutdown of the machine. Sometimes it works, the last time it did I put a new OpenSolaris machine in. But most times it won't start up.

I think I might have figured it out. My laptop has a switch on it to disable the wireless. I think if that switch is off, which I have to do to get WiMax working properly at my local coffee shop, VirtualBox won't start. Might be sitting there waiting for a response from hardware that's not visible or responsive anymore.
