VboxGtk Issue

Post by ihsmith »

I'm attempting to run a virtual machine on a Ubuntu 9.04 System, with VBoxGtk... When I try and power on the machine, I get this...

Sun xVM VirtualBox SDL GUI version 2.1.4_OSE
(C) 2005-2009 Sun Microsystems, Inc.
All rights reserved.
Failed to create VirtualBox object! Error info:
Could not load the settings file '/home/ivan/.VirtualBox/VirtualBox.xml'.
Cannot convert settings from version '1.7-linux'.
The source version is not supported
(component VirtualBox).

If someone could give me a hand as to what this means, I'd greatly appreciate it. Bear in mind I'm a completely new Linux and Virtual Box user. Thanks in advance.

You know there are (3) problems here.
First you opened a second post about the same problem.
Second you did not mention the package that you were using even after I asked you twice on the previous post.
Third you did not read the information that was provided to you with the install of the program that you downloaded. Link below states that it only works with version 2.2.0
http://vboxgtk.sourceforge.net/

Since VBoxGtk is a special build it is supported by the supplier that you obtained it from and all support issues should be sent to them.
