How to open OR recovering data from .vdi file

Dear friend.

Can anyone please help me how to extract or recovering data from .vdi file?
I've allot of important data in this .vdi file. please help :cry:

installed OS in .vdi file freenas.

I'm afraid we'll need rather more detail than that!

How did the VDI get damaged? What exactly is wrong with it, what symptoms or error messages do you see, and can it be read at all if you mount it as a second drive in another VM?

What filesystem was used? Under what OS was the drive formatted? (I know nothing about FreeNAS, but I gather you would have needed to install some OS first, before installing it).

I don't know how the VDI file get damage?
i didnt get any error message.
Freenas is first OS I install on VDI file.
I think unix file system,not very sure.

Please help.......

Mount a knoppix iso in the freenas VM.
