hi , i am trying to install "VirtualBox-3.0.2_49928_rhel5-1.i386.rpm" on a red hat enterprise system (Linux 2.6.18-128.el5). After running the rpm, i got following error:

Code: Select all

error: Failed dependencies:
        libpython2.4.so.1.0 is needed by VirtualBox-3.0.2_49928_rhel5-1.i386
Can anyone help? I think i have python 2.4.3 installed already.... thx

Have you tried to do an update on the OS? This is usually what causes these errors.

Yoiu could also try a
yum localinstall VirtualBox-3.0.2_49928_rhel5-1.i386.rpm
which should take care of the dependencies (if the relevant packages are available in the repositories)

no, the localinstall didn't help. Same error message showed up. Thanks for your reply though.
