Cannot open file chooser on Fedora 11 x86_64 (VBox 3.0.2)

Hi,

I have this annoying issue on Fedora 11 x86_64:

When I try to choose a file the file chooser doesn't show up and VBox is stuck. Then it becomes impossible to start new VBoxes and I need to restart the session. (Actually new VBox processes get created as can be seen with ps but to no effect).

In order to reproduce:
- fresh reboot
- open VirtualBox
- go to Media Manager => ISO tab
- click on Add button

I also had the issue with other file choosers in VBox (e.g. export of OVF Appliance)

This is blocking because I cannot chose new *.iso to install (I will try to do it via the vboxmanager)

I could not find other forum posting or bug related to this.
Should I book a bug?

Here are technical information that may be relevant:
- uname -a
Linux alma 2.6.29.6-213.fc11.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Jul 7 21:02:57 EDT 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
- Qt version: 4.5.6
- Windows Manager: GNOME (KDE is also installed on this machine)
- VBox PEUL license 3.0.2, installed from RPMs

Many thanks in advance for your support!

Mathieu

As usual, posting on a forum after being blocked for days helps to find a workaround, by the simple fact that you have to clearly formulate your problem...

After posting I did some tests switching back and forth between GNOME and KDE etc. and I finally found out that what was causing the problem was the Compiz Window Manager (on GNOME as well as on KDE).
When switching to Metacity (or KView for that matter) using the fusion-icon, I could open file chooser again.

So I'm unblocked, but it could be worth to have a look at this because this was really unnerving.

So to reproduce add the following to the procedure above:
- activate Compiz

Ok, strange. My experience here might not be entirely accurate, because I don't run your set up of Fedora 11 64 bit, but Ubuntu 9.04 32 bit, but I have no problems opening the file manager while Compiz-Fusion is enabled. You might want to check the settings in the compiz-config-manager for dialogue windows. For all you know, they might be rendered off-screen.
