I am trying to install win 2000 in a VM created via VirtualBox 3.0 (I am a new user!) This is installed in Linux Mint 7 (Gloria - based on Ubuntu Jaunty).
The install went fine. I have set up using general settings as per a couple of guides I found through Google. The hard disk setup states "IDE Primary Master - Win2000.vdi (Normal, 20.00 GB)"
When I insert the win2000 disk in the CD it fires up the Win2000 install OK. But after the loading of drivers etc, the first screen says something along the lines of "Your hard disk is either new or has been erased. Do you want to format blah blah - all on the HD will be erased etc etc." OR choose exit which I did!
What do I do now?
Any help much appreciated

If you started the installation inside the VM, there is nothing to worry about. You are installing in a virtual environment, which only formats the VDI file itself for use with Windows 2000. Just continue the format. If it would have been your real hard drive, it would have detected the partitions you already have on it.

Thanks for your prompt reply. I thought this must be the case but I would not put it past Windoze to try to format the disk etc. Didn't want to take a chance until I had some expert confirmation. I only want win 2k to test websites I am building with IE 6/7 and also a golf handicap program which is the bees knees but has no Linux equivalent. I went Linux 3 years ago and have never looked back. I am a self-confessed distro-junkie. Just waiting for kde 4.3....
