USB problems - Reboot is your friend

Hi,

since this seems to come up on Windows again and again, and i ran into it myself after having had no problems on another install, here is my advice:

0. Do not run Virtualbox during USB install on the host.
1. Make sure that you install the respective USB driver on the host before installing in your VM,
2. follow the instructions to the T: as to what to connect when, as to when and how to install.

USB drivers are VERY finicky in regards to install sequence.

3. Do a reboot of the host after USB installation before firing up VM.
4. Do the correct USB install in the VM, including reboot of VM.
5. Only then: connect the USB device to the VM via VB manager.

So far this procedure has not failed me.

Best,
A.

I use VBox with USB because then I do not need to mess my system up with that USB-driver. That perfectly works. You do not need to install the driver on the host. Just in the VM is sufficient.
