Project OSx86 not working with virtual box

Post by vandaley79 »

project osx86 is a modification of the mac os to make it work on pc hardware

i have successfully loaded it onto my system for real, before so theoretically it should work on virtual box
however when i try to load the installation iso i get this

Virtual box - Guru meditation

A critical error has occurred and execution has been stopped and the virtual machine needs to be shutdown

now thats not exactly what it says but it wont let me copy and paste it here but it should be enough for you guys to help me

keep in mind i used this same iatkos iso to dual boot with windows so the problem must be in the settings somewhere any help would be appreciated

thanks

I suspect that you are giving the VM a little too much memory but you need to post what the host has and how much you are trying to give to the guest.
Any and all guest settings will be needed to be able to truly help you. Plus if you can the exact error message will help.

It appears to be looking for something from the CPU that is either not there or not being presented to the guest via VirtualBox.
Since it is not a supported guest it may be difficult to get it to going. From what I read about the project it is passing a lot of
special commands that VirtualBox would not know how to deal with, such as EFI, and special Hardware drivers. Sorry!
