Running Orb in Virtual box

While jinzora, mediatomb, and ampache are very cool, they don't hold a candle to the simplicity and versatility of Orb Streaming server. So .... I'm trying to use virtualbox to host XP which will than run ORB.

Everything is working surprisingly well, except, I can not get it to work using NAT. It does work with Bridged networking, but then the network performance for the whole virtualbox is slower than I'd like. Any thoughts on how to get NAT to work?

I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 as the Host (x86), and the guest is Windows XP SP3. Thanks,

Jon

P.S. If anyone has a suggestion for a linux native ORB ... that would be really cool!

jkonrad,
Assuming that you can use NAT for other things such as Internet, using a particular program in NAT like ORB would be outside of the scope of this forum.
If you have a specific question regarding VirtualBox please feel free to ask.

OK. I thought a discussion on how to open ports or how to have ports forwarded in Virtualbox would be a beneficial topic in general to this community. ORB is running fine, that's not what I needed help with. I was hoping to learn how to manage ports for any applications when using Virtualbox. Thanks anyway,

Jon

Well that's different. That is not what I got from you post.
See section 6.4.1. Configuring port forwarding with NAT of the users guide for information on how to forward ports in VirtualBox.
Also put port forwarding site:forums.virtualbox.org in google to see all discussions about port forwarding on the VirtualBox Forums
If you run into a snag don't hesitate to ask.
