VB installation on Windows XP freezes

Post by jkcohen »

I'm running Windows XP SP3 on a Toshiba Tecra A9 (Core 2 Duo T7500), 3 Gb RAM. When I try to install VirtualBox, the drivers are installed and then the installation freezes -- the progress bar does not move and the installer just sits there for 30-45 minutes. When I tried to install previous versions of VirtualBox, the installation waited that long and then completed. With 3.0.2, I waited for 1.5 hours; I hit cancel, and the installation took more than 3 hours to roll back. What is going on?

You need to look with processexplorer or such tools what exactly is taking resources, there might be some dialogbox hiding away waiting for input.
