on windows xp guest, if you install any VNC clock breaks

I have built 8 windows xp sp3 guests running under XP-64 current serivce packs - they work as expected with the guest services until I install any VNC program, RealVNC, UltraVNC, or TightVNC, the guest addition that fixes the Real Time Clock (RTC) stops working and does not work if you uninstall the VNC package ( it works if I go to a saved Virtual Disk and restore the image ).
I like the VNC approach as the Ultra VNC View allows imbeded password so I can click once and connect.
With the Remote Desktop App - I have to type the IP or Virtual machine name and then a userid and then a password.
Both the Microsoft Virtual PC 7 and the free VMware work with VNC.
I like VirtualBox better as it seem to use much less CPU and will use all my cpu cores.
How can I fix the clock issue other than what I am doing - running the clock sync program D4 and syncing via tcp protocol every minute with the XP 64 host.
I am on the 3.0.2 VirtualBox.
