Hello,
I am using Virtualbox (latest as of now) 3.0.2 under Vista SP1 (32bit) host, running Xubuntu 9.04 as the guest OS.
I use bridged networking (bridged with a wireless usb adapter on the host), but encountering some strange issues:
DHCP works all fine, I can obtain an IP on the guest OS, the router recognises another attached computer to itself.
Outgoing connections also work from the guest OS to the outside world.
I have setup an ssh server on the guest that should be now accessible from within the network. However, I can only access it from the host os and from the guest os, and it timeouts on connections from the rest of the LAN. Note that pings work all right though, no matter where I ping from.
I have tried changing the Virtual adapter to Intel, but no resolution still.
Any ideas? Does it have to do wirth the configuration or it is some kind of bug?

Re: bridged networking - vista host - ubuntu guest - 3.0.2
Look at the Wireless router or PCs for a firewall setting that can be causing this.
Also some virus software actually block ports that you may need for access.
Even some 3rd party VPN clients block access. Plus the settings for the ssh server could do this if it is not configured properly.

Indeed it was a firewall problem on the host OS.
For future reference:
NOD32 (v3) personal firewall has in its 'IDS and advanced options' menu a checkbox for 'Allow communication for bridged connections'...
Thanks a lot!
