VBox v 3.0.2 hogging 100% CPU

Post by winxpuser »

I'm running Win XP host and Win XP guest. after a while vbox consumes 100% CPU. My personal debugging points to the way VBox handles mounting USB devices in the guest. But imight be wrong.

Here's the vmachine config:

Probable areas that could cause this are:
Windows Index, Fetch, superfetch in vista. all of these put a strain on the system while they are reading the external drive.
Usually after a while it will drop back down, but heaven forbid if you reboot. Also you should exclude the VM folder from your virus software as it causes this as well.
If you need Virus protection put one on the guest.
Try searching on ways to turn off the above on the external drive.
These of course are just some suggestions from areas that I have found tweaking my systems. Others may have more suggestions.
