Windows 7 RC on Ubuntu

Hi,

I'm thinking about installing Windows 7 RC on Ubuntu because I'm desperate to have IIS 7... I already have XP as guest and I find it a bit slow (see my other post).
I want to have other people opinion on 7. If you have already installed it on ubuntu, is it working ok ? What is your configuration for running it ?

Thanks !
Sam

It works but loading is slow. Win7RC really wants 2 Gig of RAM to work properly, 1 gig minimum.
Once installed if you want to install anything it simply wipes out the memory and runs even slower.
IMHO Windows 7RC was intended to operate on a new 64 bit machine and while it works on 32 it is not optimized as well as it should be.

Ok, you just convinced not to install it.... :p

Is there any reasons why Windows Server 2008 is not supported by VB ? I can see in your config you have it but it's not listed in the supported OS. Does it work well for you ?

VBox supports almost all flavor of Windows starting with XP but because there are so many different flavors they do not list them all. Yes to the question of does it work. Keep in mind that what ever you want the guest to do is going to put a hit on performance if you do not have enough RAM to get the job done. Same thing as running it native.
For testing I can run the servers in 512 meg of memory (once installed with a higher amount to get it installed faster) and it works good. Even better if I hammer up the memory to 1 gig when I need it to do more.

One thing that I do to make this all come together though is I do not use sound, 3d effects, or usb on any of my guests. They require too many resources and I don't need them.
