I am running Virtualbox 3.0.2 on windows cp pro sp3. I have linux mint installed (ubuntu core) installed as Linux and selected Ubuntu. It runs fine I have no problems there other then with an FX5200 256mb video card set to use 128mb in virtualbox I can't get any better then 800x600 at 61hz, but that's not the main problem I am concerned with, this is:
I have installed bahamut 1.8.6 just fine on linux mint, set the network card up to 192.168.1.6 on the virtualbox linux mint, set the router to point port 7777 to .6 but I cannot get any connections to the irc server which is up and running fine, any ideas as to why?
I appreciate any help I can get, thank you in advance.

Re: Problem connecting to IRC
Were you able to install the guest additions? (screen resolution problem)
What network mode are you using for the guest?
Also check for firewall issues

I didn't know anything about the guest additions I will look into it, I was used to using Parallels and switched to this.Perryg wrote:Were you able to install the guest additions? (screen resolution problem)

It is set to the defaults for networking: PCnet-Fast III (nat) and it is a gigabyte mobo with onboard networking.
As for the firewall I added port 7777 allowed in Linux Mint.

Re: Problem connecting to IRC
Well the address you used is somewhat strange for the NAT network. Usually they are in the 10.0.2.0 range. Why not leave it DHCP instead of static and see if it will work for you.
See section 6.4. Network Address Translation (NAT) of the VirtualBox Users Guide.
For the guest additions you need to read section 4.3. Linux Guest Additions

GA installation is a howto: Howto: Install Linux Guest Additions + Xorg config.
Network, if you leave things as it is, you only need to change the Attached To:, to Bridged, and select the proper Host NIC. With NAT, you have to forward some ports too, in addition to your current router.
