help installing Nox MultiPlayer under WindowsXP Guest?

I am not sure where on this forum this would go, so...
I am trying to install on old Windows game called Nox from Westwood Software. I am running Ubuntu 9.04 on an eMachines E520 laptop with 1ghz RAM and a 2ghz CPU with a Windows XP guest running in the latest VirtualBox. The program installs fine, although there is quite a bit of lag in the mouse response that isn't there doing anything else in the Windows guest. When I went back to play the game after it installed, it tells me to "... please insert the correct CD-ROM..." even though the disc is still in the (only) drive I have. I notice that the drive is mounted as /dev/sr0, but I could have sworn that it was /dev/cdrom0 when I installed it. I guess this could make a difference? If yes, how would I fix it? If no, what could?
Thanks...

rebeltaz,
A few things to check here.
Have you installed the guest additions?
What version of VBox are you using?
Also tell us how much memory are you allowing the guest and how much Vram have you set.
With only 1 gig of RAM you probably will not have a good experience with this.
You may want to look at adding memory.

I'm sorry.. I have been so busy that I haven't been able to fool with this ting lately.
I do have guest additions installed. I am running VirtualBox v3.0.8r53138. I have since installed an additional gigabyte of RAM, so now the virtual session has 896 MB RAM and 16 MB video RAM. I still need help if anyone knows anything... Thanks...

UPDATE:
I reinstalled the game and for some reason, it is now playing... or rather trying to. It no longer asks for the correct CD, it goes to the intro movie. Now the problem is that the movies are hesitating and stuttering so bad that it is unplayable. Both the audio and the video is freezing. I tried increasing the video RAM up to the maximum 128 MB but the problem is still there. So any ideas on this new twist in an old game? Thanks...
*EDIT*
I quit. I finally tried the Compatibility Mode shortcut and the game loaded bypassing the opening movies. The mouse was all over the screen! One small touch of the mouse had it shoot across the screen. I give up. This is too damn much trouble for a freaking game.
Thanks anyway, fellas.

With games, it's best to disable the seamless mouse integration temporarily if you have the GA installed.
Have you tried the game with Wine instead?

I tried turning off mouse integration and it works better now, but still hesitates a little every once in a while. I know that the system can't run at full speed or capacity since you're running an OS inside an OS, but I would have thought that even split, 2 GHz CPU, 1 Gb RAM and 128 Mb video ram would be sufficient for a game this old. Oh well, at least it is working now. Thanks...
And I did try WINE before I tried VirtualBox, but I had even more problems with that!
