[Solved] (probably) Simple question...

I've used virtualbox quite a bit in the past and never run into this issue. I'm running a Vista host (which I've not done before) with a Fedora 11 guest. The Connection was created by the install, and an exception was added to Windows Firewall. However, though my host boots and eth0 starts, I get no networking. I've tried turning off iptables in the guest, and that has no effect. I've tried manually entering my ip information rather than dhcp, also no effect. I tried bridging the Host's connection with the Virtualbox connection in Windows; also no effect.
I'm not sure where else to check to see what the problem might be. Any suggestions?

We need to know what version you are using and is it really OSE or PUEL since you say you have this on a Vistas Host now.
Also you need to post the ipconfig from Windows and the ifconfig from fedora

Also check the
VirtualBox FAQ for any third party firewall tools that can cause problems. Some anti-virus applications have a firewall like protection against worms and trojans that can cause problems. Disable all security software on the Host and see how that goes.
And as PerryG suggested, give full network settings from both Host and Guest.

Have no third party firewalls running. Only running clamwin for antivirus and Windows Firewall as a firewall. I have a hardware firewall between me and the net, but that shouldn't affect a VM.
I had thought I was running the latest download, but it looks like I haven't upgraded in a while. I'm going to upgrade to 3.0.2 under the PUEL and see if that changes anything. If not, I will come back and post network information.

Okay, problem solved. I'd forgotten I had an unused PCI Ethernet card on the computer in addition to the on-board one. Removed the card and everything was detected normally.
Thanks for the suggestions. Asking for my network information made me look more carefully at my ipconfig on the host machine and ifconfig on the linux guest, which helped me notice the inconsistency.
