Windows 2000 Domain Controller

Post by bapu »

Can a Windows 2000 Domain Controller w/Active Directory, WINS and DNS run as a VM using a bridged connection?

For the most part it works for me but I occasioanlly see where one computer on my LAN has trouble finding the Domain Controller

Code: Select all

Automatic certificate enrollment for local system failed to contact the active directory (0x8007054b). The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.
  Enrollment will not be performed.
Oddly, in WINS, the computer is registered and is part of the windows network via My Network Places.

Any help would be appreciated.
Ubuntu 8.10
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4, 8GB memory
Gigabyte 8800GT Video
320 GB Ubuntu OS disk
3 x 1TB Drives - dedicated to serve up 4 VM''s

Ah Windows 2000 DC. For the most part it works like it should but you might want to look at the virtual network adapter. Make sure that it is working smoothly. Try to changing the adapter type in the settings and see if you find one that has the best throughput with the least amount of errors and latency. BE SURE that you have drivers available to install in case Win2K does not have them.
