Microsoft access 2007 page formatting

Post by greyoxide »

I am using the access 2007 runtime to run an access database inside virtualbox on an Ubuntu machine. Everything works great exept the output to pdf macro it works but it spits the file out in 8.5 x 11 format even though the report is setup for 11 x 17. To troubleshoot this I logged on to a windows machine and tried the export to pdf macro in this same database and it worked fine.

My question is: is there a setting in Virtualbox that I am missing?

A thought here. Were you in full screen mode when you did this or were you in a smaller resolution?

@perryg yes I was in full screen (RCTRL+F). However it was a smaller resolution than I used on the windows machine, 1152x864 is the only res that won't cut off the start bar.

1152x864 is a strange full screen resolution......
Have you installed the guest additions? What is the resolution of the host?
This may all be unnecessary, but I seem to remember something about the screen resolution effecting areas like this.

@perryg I do not believe I have installed the guest additions, this is my first time using virtualbox. Is that something I need to do?

Yes. This may be all that is keeping this from working for you.

Thanks for the reply.

What are guest additions, and how do I install them?

Thanks,

When things like these are asked, don't you think it would be a good idea to follow the Forum Posting Guide you see when you click on the Post Reply button? It has the rules we expect users to follow, which includes reading the VirtualBox FAQ, and User Manual (accessible through the Help > Contents menu, or as pdf in my signature). That explains most, if not all, of the terms used here. Please do this as soon as possible.

The Guest Additions are a set of tools to improve the interaction between the Host and Guest. For one, it allows the Guest to use higher and custom resolutions, and seamless mouse integration, so you don't need to hit the Host key every time you want to switch back to the Host.
Read the Forum Posting Guide before opening a topic.
VirtualBox FAQ: Check this before asking questions.

@perryg Thanks for the idea. I have installed guest additions, so far it is much easier to operate.

However the access 2007 output to PDF macro is still giving me problems. For the sake of clarity I am using the Msft Office add-in which can be found here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en.

thanks for the help

Looks like you are not alone with problems in this adapter program:
http://support.microsoft.com/search/def ... 033&mode=r

Anyway I am out of ammo, and since I do not have Office 2007, I can't help troubleshoot it either. Sorry!
PS: Look at the second one and see if applies in anyway to what you are doing.
