been trying to export a machine and it hangs at 99%.
try many things to reset it to try again.
i did change .VirtualBox dir /harddrive and /machines to a different drive after install.
but not able to find the cashed export file?
tried renaming the VM, added new snapshot, looked for the cashed export file i assume . tried renaming the file export location.
also tried the legacy option.
every thing i try, it jumps to 99% and hangs again. so i assume is cashed in a temp file someplace that i am unable to locate.

Re: vista x64 sp2 export hangs
We need to know the version of VBox you are using and the machine type and extension of the guest?
Does it jump really quick to 99% or does it take some time and then just stay there?
How long have you left it at 99% before you gave up?
Did you tell VBox to export to a different folder than the original folder?

Re: vista x64 sp2 export hangs
ver # 3.0.2r49928
"machine type and extension of the guest?" ??
ubuntu guest.
it took long time to get 99% the first time, then it jumps up realy fast every time after that.
i left it run for hours.
i did tell it try different folders and names after it kept hanging up.
originally i wanted to know where it is saving this cashed export, i was unable to locate it.
so i can delete it and try again.

Re: vista x64 sp2 export hangs
seems it restarted again, from beginning?
started at snapshot 2. i think that was where it was before when it hang up.
it just exit, no messages. it was at about 80%
made 6k ovf file. and another file, {99c05cb6-c785-49d7-9648-30b8db47f372}.vmdk in same place.

Wow snapshots huh?
This from the book
This from the book
So this could take a lot of time and what you get may not be what you wanted. Did I say a lot of time? Depending on the number of snapshots it might not even work due to storage limitations. What is the HD formatted in? If fat it is limited to 2 gig. Fat32 to 4 gig. But I do not know this for sure.OVF cannot describe every feature that VirtualBox provides for virtual machines. For example, snapshot information gets lost on export; the disk images will have a "flattened" state identical to the current state of the virtual machine, but any snapshots that were defined for the machine will have been merged.

Re: vista x64 sp2 export hangs
by the way,
machine is a quad core extreme, bran new.
dell m6400 with 8 gigs ram. Vista x64 ultimate.
2 X 360 primary drives, and one 1.5 gig eSATA seagate external, also new.
i have tried writing it to all the drives.
writing drives that is mostly empty.
when it was at 99%, the timer was going from 0 to some number i could not see, and back to 0, repeatedly, fast.
