Virtualbox version:3.0.2
Host: Windows XP
Guest: Windows 7

Hi everybody,

I'm having trouble to access shared folders on my guest system.
Thats what i did: on the host system

VBoxManage sharedfolder add "Windows 7" --name "docs" --hostpath "F:\Documents and Settings\Max\Meus documentos\"

On the guest system
net use x: \\vboxsvr\docs

If I try to open the x drive on the guest system I get the message:
X: is not accessible
Parameter is Incorrect

On the host system the group for the guest system is show but cannot be accessed because of lack of permissions.
Please help

And in the GUI, what does it say there for the Shared Folders? Did you try to share a different folder, like C:\Share? There are cases where personal folders, like the my documents folder, can't be shared and give errors like these. On Linux Guests, you get a protocol error, this is similar on your system it seems.

Sasquatch thanks for your reply.
You were right. If I try to share a simple folder as C:\share, I can access it from within my guest.
The problem is that I really need to access "My documents". Wouldn't this be possible?

You can share your Documents folder and access it via a network share instead of the vbox shared folder.

I don't know how to do this since in my guest machine the host network doesn't appear, and if I search for it it's not found.

If you are using NAT you can switch to Internal or Bridged and then they should be able to see each other.
See section 6.5 & 6.6 of the VBox Users Guide for more information.
Window 7RC does not always see networks so you may need to use a command windows and do this by hand.
Example net use z: \\<ip address or name of the host>\<sharename> -p

With NAT, you can access the Host trough 10.0.2.2.
If you really want to use Shared Folders, try to share a parent folder of the My Documents Folder. A subfolder can also be used.

Unfortunatly no parent folder worked. But I was able to share the folder through bridged network.
Thanks for helping
