Problem with starting VirtualBox on openSuse 11.0

Post by althair »

Hello everyone! I have a problem with running of VirtualBox on opensuse 11.0. I installed VirtualBox version 2.2.4 (I need that older version) manually, exactly how it stands on webpage of opensuse:
http://en.opensuse.org/VirtualBox_Installation

when I try to start VirtualBox, by writing "VirtualBox" in terminal, I get a message:

VirtualBox - Critical Error

Failed to create the VirtualBox COM object.

The application will now terminate.

Assertion failed at '/home/vbox/vbox-2.2.4/src/VBox/Main/VirtualBoxImpl.cpp' (331) in nsresult VirtualBox::init().

Unexpected exception 'N8settings6ENoKeyE' (No such key 'Global').

Please contact the product vendor!.

Details:

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: VirtualBox
Interface: IVirtualBox {779264f4-65ed-48ed-be39-518ca549e296}

Could someone please help?

Why did you install from source, and didnt use the precompiled one?

I run 2.2.4 on suse 11.1, runs nicely...except the USB, but thats an older story...
