VirtualBox 3.0.2r49928 Ubuntu Virtual Machine

Since upgrading from VirtualBox 2x, I'm unable to run my Ubuntu Virtual Machine for more than a couple of minutes before Windows announces that the Virtualbox GUI has failed. This brings down the virtual machine.

This happens while attempting to move files using FTP from a remote server.

I had no problem prior to ungrading to VirtualBox 3.0.2

The host is Windows Vista 64

I have tried reinstalling the Ubuntu virtual machine but the result is the same. As soon as I attempt to move to move files -- either as a FTP network connection or using Filezilla app -- the Virtualbox GUI failure takes everything down.

Did you install the new version of the Guest Additions?

I just finished a complete reinstall. I blew off the virtual disks and all program files and started from scratch. I reinstalled Ubuntu and updated to most recent versions. I reinstalled the guest additions.

I then connected to a server using FTP. I selected a folder with roughly 3000 items in it (about 12MB) and dragged it to the desktop. The system counted up the files and then started the download. After less than a minute of downloading files, the "VirtualBox GUI failure" error displayed.

Again, all of this worked fine under earlier versions of VirtualBox on Windows Vista 64.

I have downgraded my installation of VirtualBox to 2.2.4 on my Vista machine and reinstalled the Ubuntu guest . The problem with FTP transfers disappeared.

Something is wrong with VirtualBox 3.0.2 on Vista with Ubuntu virtual machine.
