[Solved] Windows 2003

Host: Win7 32 RC
VBox Version 3.0.2

I'm attempting to install W2k3 server R2SP2 within VirtualBox using an existing Unattend install process from across the network.

I got the UI started, the PE gho image downloaded, installed, and running. After it reboots to run Windows installation (the blue screen'd oldschool part of it), it loads the drivers and then hangs at "Setup is starting windows".

The last error in the log is:

Guest Log: BIOS: int13_harddisk: function 02, parameters out of range 0000/0000/0001!

It repeats this 6-8 times.

I tried this with both ICH6 and PIIX4.

I tried to extract the VB driver for the ICH6 from the VBAdditions ISO (so I could "f6" the setup after creating a floppy image out of it), but I didn't see it there.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

It should work with PIIX4 and without the sata toggle. Make sure all the other exotic VBox features are off.

Exotic? Like...?

Currently:

ACPI enabled
1024 MB RAM
1 CPU
VT-x enabled
3D enabled (64MB)
ICH6 OR PIIX4 - both hang
SATA is not enabled
60GB Dynamic HD
NO CD
Floppy Image is being used
audio disabled (just in case)
Bridged network to an extra NIC in the Host that is bridged (in the host) to the VB driver....networking works this way...
USB is off
A couple of shared folders are defined, but obviously not used yet (until we get GA loaded in windows)

Any info is appreciated...

Ok, it's running now...

I turned off the VT-x for now (until the reboot)..

Thanks!

Yup, that worked!:)

I just turned it off for the DOS setup app. Once that stage finished, and it rebooted, I turned the VT-x back on, and it was good to go.

Thanks!
