Same guest on diffrent hosts

Post by FallenGameR »

I have to work in Vista and Fedora.
And configure virtual Fedora from both hosts.
Is it possible to use same vdi and snapshots from different OS hosts?

You should have no problem with the VDI . All you need is to re-register it on each host.

But i'm not 100% sure how the snapshots would behave in this case. Maybe you would need to also register it again.

VDI file no problems. Just make sure that the VMs have exactly the same settings on both hosts, so also the MAC address of the virtual NIC.
Snapshots however won't work, unless you constantly edit the xml files manually to reflect any change you made on one of the hosts to the other host. Since it's such a time consuming process, you're better off making a regular backup of the VDI file.
Make sure that the VDI is on an NTFS drive, because if it's FAT32, you will hit your head really hard when the file reaches 4 GB.
