Post by kreekk »

Hi all ! in first sorry for my english because I'm French. I have make a research but i didn't find any answer.

I have put Windows XP on my Virtual Box but my primery OS is Ubuntu 9.04. Yesterday, I haven't switched off correctly Virtual Box because I was hurry. And Now when I try to launch Virtual Box , I can't boot it ! this message appear :

Code: Select all

I never save the state of my machine and i would retrieve an important data (it's a project compiled with VisualBasic 6  ). My question is : Can somebody help me to retrieve my data ? Thank's a lot !!! :)

Recovery console from the xp CD could help, or any LinuxLIFE CD ISO file will get you access to the data.

Try a knoppix ISO to see if you can access the data.

Did try running a "fdisk /mbr", when in recovery mode?
Also, did you try looking if the virtual disk is, in fact, connected to the virtual machine? Or even if the vdi is still there?
Silly things i know, but might be the case, since you turned off VBox in a hurry it might have missbehaved at some point.
