USB Not Working Correctly

I am running VBOX on Windows Vista 64 Home. I have created a Windows XP 32 virtual PC. I am plugging a usb to serial adapter into the Vista PC and trying the use the USB Adapter in my XP virtual PC.

Mostly, it does not work. Windows Vista recognizes the usb to serial adapter as a port in vista device manater, but cannot configure it correctly. I do have the correct drivers. Once, when I was working with the configuration of the Vista PC and the serial adapter, I got a message that windows Vista had recognized my VBOX USB device and the VBox usb device showed up in Windows vista device manager at the Very Bottom of the USB listings. When that happened, the USB to Serial adapter was NOT detected as a "Port". When that happened, my usb to serial adapter worked correctly in my XP virtual PC.

Does anyone know how to get that Vbox USB device to show up in the Vista Device Manager every time?

thanks in advance for any help.

Jolly,

Sorry I can not help you with the problems you are having on the host, other than to tell you that USB sharing is a one on and one off share.
Meaning that you can have it function on one OS at a time. So if Vista has focus you will not/can not use it in XP and vice versa.

I have a Canon Laser Multifunction printer attached to the host computer via USB cable.
It works fine in the network and the laptop can print using it.

It shows up in Vbox Settings under Devices / USB devices along with my keyboard and several other things.

But I can't get Windows 7 ( the guest ) to see the printer.
Nor will it see the keyboard.

My Logitech G15 keyboard works, but is seen as a generic keyboard.

How can I get the things that Vbox sees in USB devices to be seen in the guest?
