I am running Windows Vista and want to use Linux on a Virtual Machine - just been told about this product.

In which order should I download and install VM and Linux.

Can I download Linux, have a dual boot system and use VM?

Thanks

Brian

What are you trying to do in the first place? You can download each file in any order you want. It really depends on WHERE you want to use Linux. In a VM, or on your physical hard drive as dual boot. VB doesn't provide the latter. Read the VirtualBox FAQ for more info on virtualization, and the User Manual too. Also check the Forum Posting Guide for some other useful tips.

Can I do both i.e either use Linux in a VM or or the hard drive. Depending upon what i want to do. The only reason to go VM is to able to get online. I do not have an ISP - I use a web based mail account. I connect using a USB stick from Bell Mobility - that only recognises Windows & Mac. By using Linux in a VM I can switch to Windows to get online.

Oh, in that case you can run Linux in a VM on your Windows Host and use NAT to get the internet from the Host on the Guest too. If you want to run Linux native, then you have to make sure that USB is working properly and hope for the best that your USB internet device is picked up properly by the VM.

For Linux and the USB device, have you searched some Linux sites for any support? I've seen several times that a provider didn't list Linux as supported, but it did work with Linux.
