My host is XP SP3 and the guest is Windows 7 RC.

Got the guest additions in and that improved the video and now it looks great.

But, I can't access a shared folder.

On the C drive on the XP host, I created a folder C:\VMshare
I set it to be shared and people can change the files.

In the guest Windows 7, I have the file showing under Shared Folders but I can't see it in Explorer per the manual.
Vbox says there is a shared folder ... no problem and it has full access.

But I can't find it to do anything with it or the files I put it in.

I tried using the below in the command prompt box in Windows 7 per the instructions but it says "network name cannot be found"
net use c: \\vboxsvr\VMshare

Very frustrating.

Your net use statement is wrong. This needs to be a free drive letter. Try this. The -p makes it persistent.

I just tried: net use z: \\vboxsvr\VMshare -p and I get the same error message network not found.

Should I enter that in a command prompt in the guest or the host? I have been entering it in the guest command prompt.

The command is given in the guest.
Shut down the guest and in the VBox program click settings and then shared folders.
Make sure that you have the share there and that you have it typed correctly.

OK, I just checked and the folder shows up under Shared Folders in the Settings.

It shows up as C:\VMshare with Full access.
