I used to use 2.2.4 and there is no problem at all, until recently some app I was testing causing VirtualBox service to crash (sorry for now reporting that) so I tried to upgrade to 3.0.2 (without uninstallation). After installing 3.0.2 I found that it became trouble because I no longer be able to connect to PPPoE connections (which my boardband provider choose to rely on). After uninstallation, it works like a charm.
So, what is this a painful bug or something else?

Re: VirtualBox 3.0.2 breaks PPPoE connections
Some people have been seeing problems with network connections and have fixed it by changing their virtual network adapter from the PCnet III to the IntelPro/1000 T server.
You may need to obtain drivers so be prepared.

Re: VirtualBox 3.0.2 breaks PPPoE connections
The problem however is that the host computer, not the guests, that cannot use PPPoE, which I couldn't control which adapter I use unless I buy a new computer. So any suggestions? (As a note, version 2.4 doesn't have the same problem, however 2.4 has some other problems so I need to consider upgrading to version 3 of VirtualBox)
It just break my PPPoE and it is the case even all the vboxes are not switched on, so I guess the PCInet/InterPro adapters doesn't play a role here. However there is also no way I could produce a bug report because it is just an observation.

Also for some unknown reason some of my vboxes won't boot if I choose IntelPro drivers.Perryg wrote:Some people have been seeing problems with network connections and have fixed it by changing their virtual network adapter from the PCnet III to the IntelPro/1000 T server.

Re: VirtualBox 3.0.2 breaks PPPoE connections
Open the properties of the PPPoE connection and check the list of protocols and services available for the connection. You should see the VirtualBox Bridged Network service there. Disable it and see how that goes. It should work now. If it doesn't, remove VB and install it again but this time, disable the Bridged Network driver.
