I'm reposting this again, despite or because of sasquatch's incredible, and apparently (from what I have observed) habitual, rudeness.
On my Windows XP guest I can access shared drives via My Network Places/Entire Network/Virtual Box Shared folders.
But I can't find them at all in Windows 7. Anyone know where I should be looking?
And the answer sasquatch is yes I did look but didn't find. So perhaps you'd be kind enough to point me in the right direction?

Re: Reposting: Win 7 and sharing
Windows 7RC has a problem with the VBox shared folders, if that is what you are using.
Still you need to open a command window and map the drive from there.
The Users Guide tells you exactly how to do this. Section 4.6 Folder sharing.
Also if you are talking about true network sharing you need to specify what you are using for the network mode.
I find that for most people you need to use bridged, because NAT is going to be too hard for you to set this up.

Code: Select all
net use x: \\vboxsvr\sharenameI find that for most people you need to use bridged, because NAT is going to be too hard for you to set this up.

I was meaning sharing folders. I'm not at all familiar with networking and not concerned with it as such. I just want to access other areas, like the Linux folders and the USB, both of which I was doing in XP by sharing folders and mapping network drives.
I won't be able to do this for a couple of days, as I'll be busy with work. But hopefully it will be OK and I won't need to bother you again.
Thanks again.
