I've written about this before but never got it straightened out.
I have a Ubuntu 9.04 Host and xp32 guest and i can't ever uncapture the mouse and keyboard.
I'm running this on an Intel quad core.
I've had the exact same problem with my dual Xeon 5355 system Ubuntu 9.04 Host and xp64 guest.
In my 10 or so hours messing with Virtualbox I have never been able to uncapture.
When I hit the right Ctrl key the VB icon changes like it should but I'm still stuck in the XP window.
Everything in XP is running great and I just shut down VB and go right into Ubuntu when I need but it would be nice to be able to do what it is supposed to do.
Can't uncapture

Re: Can't uncapture
IS this a usb mouse?
Two things that you can try.
Make sure that you DO NOT have a filter for the mouse/keyboard in the USB section of the VM if you are using the PUEL version of VBox?
Try moving the mouse to a ps2 port.

My computer doesn't even have a ps/2 port. Too new a computer I guess.
Also I'm running it all thru a KVM.
I'll give your suggestion a shot. Thx

Holy S*!T it works. Who would have thought to not have the USB filter on the mouse and keyboard.Perryg wrote: Make sure that you DO NOT have a filter for the mouse/keyboard in the USB section of the VM.

USB filters are when you want some usb-thing to be used directly by the guest. Example something that only has windows drivers and you are running linux as host.
Keyboard and mouse should be used by the host and the result sent to the guest so no filters for those.
