I have installed VirtualBox 3.0.0 on my opensuse 11.1 desktop. Installation of XP into virtual box seems to go flawlessly. When the virtual xp reboots after instalation, it hangs up during the first few seconds of boot up. I restart the virtual xp and select safe mode and I can see that it hangs up on the windows/system32/drivers/agpcpq.sys.
Apart from the RAM allotment, i think that the VirtualBox settings are all default.
emachines T3516 w/ RAM upgrade
opensuse 11.1
kernel 2.6.27.23-0.1-default
RAM: 1879MB
VirtualBox 3.0.0 r49315 linux.amd64
Guest OS XP
RAM 512MB
video mem 12MB
3d accel disabled
virtual HD 4 GB
CD Rom is mounted iso
audio enabled
network enabled
usb enabled
The Vbox.log is as follows:

Your log file indicates that yo do not have VMX capabilities.
Does your bios have hardware-v? and if so is it turned on?

VirtualBox 3.0.0 r49315 linux.amd64
So I am slightly confused here. The post shows that you have the above installed yet you don't have VMX support.
I didn't think that was possible, but stranger things have happened.
Where did you get the files from? Was it in the repo of OpenSUSE?

Why don't you uninstall the one you have and download the i386 package instead and see if that will work better for you?

I left it alone for a while at the agpcpq error message and it finally booted up. I get to a blank xp desktop with an error message that says:
the system is not fully installed. please run setup again
where do i go from here?

The Vbox.log is as follows:
It would appear that the whole problem arose from thinking that the machine had hung up after installation. restarting the machine during the setup process is where all of the real problems are born.
I did a fresh installation. When I got to the blank screen I just left it alone. After a while the setup went like it is ment to. I hope this helps anyone frustrated with the agpcpq.sys error.

I tried to install XP on another one of my emachines and had the same problem. After the installation windows wants to restart. during the restart virtualbox says that the machine is running, but it is hung up indefinitly. so I turned it off and boot the machine in safe mode. it hangs up every time at the message "windows/system32/drivers/agpcpq.sys". One by one I went through the setting, looking for what might be the problem. After checking the "IO APIC" option the system will boot up, but it is corrupted and needs to be repaired or reinstalled. So I deleted every remnant of the virtual machine and started from scratch. I used all of the standard setting except this time i checked the "IO APIC". XP installs and boots up flawlessly. If you are getting hung up on the agpcpq.sys message then try checking the "IO APIC" in the system section of Virtualbox.

I was using Windows XP as a guest OS with Parallels 4.0.x on Mac Os 10.5.8. I decided to migrate to VirtualBox. In order to do this, I installed an evaluation version of VMWare Fusion to convert the hdd hard drive format (Parallels) to the wmdk format (VMWare) that is supported by VirtualBox. After creating the new VirtualBox Windows virtual machine with the converted drive, the Windows boot process would stop before showing the Windows logo. I could not even start it in safe mode. After reading this post I turned on the IO APIC option and restarted the virtual machine and everyting works perfect now!
Thanks!

@aleon215
Exactly my situation, and the same change worked for me.
Cheers
