host hang while guest running, now vb process stuck @ 8192 K

Hi,

VB3.0.0 on Windows XP 32-bit host.

host hang while Vista guest was running. Forced shutdown of computer. Now VB doesn't start anymore. No Task spawns, no gui appears. Task Manager shows process at 8192 KB doing no more.

Help!

update: even if started from the commandline via startvm VirtualBox does nothing except sitting there at 8 MB mem usage and nothing happens.

My only choice is my Linux host now where I have no sound as Sb16 isn't working under Vista and AC97 makes graphics exteremly slow (1pixel per second drawn or so).
