no audio device in Vista guest since 2.2.4 *solved*

Hello,

there's no audio device found by Vista for VB3.0.0 and since VB2.2.4. With VB2.2.2 there were no problems. I used to use the ICH AC97 device. Since 2.2.4 ICH AC97 leads to every horizontal line drawing being visible and 5 minutes delay between every horizontal line. VB basically was ununsable. I had this exact same issue with Win4Lin under Linux 1 year ago. Now newer VB have the same issue. Selecting SoundBlaster 16 solves this problem however. Yet there is no audio device in Vista and device manager shows no multimedia device of any type! This is for the same guest Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit SP1 for both hosts Windows XP 32-bit SP3 and Linux Ubuntu 9.04 x64. Both use Sb16 and either DirectSound or PulseAudio (changing the audio driver under Ubuntu has no effect).

Any help? <-?

Greets

update: host Windows AC97 works in this guest Windows without graphics lag. That's nice! I use Ubuntu primarily now and it will be nice if either Sb16 is detected there under Vista or if Ac97 doesn't produce this terrible lag.

update 2 : this is more a linux audio drive rproblem: null driver and AC97 lets Vista start as fast as possible, selecting any non-null driver leads to the miserable performance however.

update3: OSS4 as mentioned in another thread solved this issue for me: simply download OSS 4.1 install the package, reboot, use ossxmix to set the mixers, (enable oss under audio preferences if you have sth. like on Ubuntu), choose oss driver in VB, done!
