Fedora-11 x86-64 PUEL installation issue

I installed the Fedora-11 RPM, 64 bit.

I rebooted fedora.

Startup showed a critical error; startup from command line with --debug flag showed the following:

Code: Select all

[yak ~]$ VirtualBox --debug
Wrong owner (500) of '/tmp/.vbox-yak-ipc'.
Wrong owner (500) of '/tmp/.vbox-yak-ipc'.
Inspection of this directory showed it to (indeed) be created for userID 500; my login id (which invoked) is 1000. (The default _first user_ id for Fedora-11 is 500).

Once I changed /tmp/.vbox* to the correct userid and gropu vboxusers, then VirtualBox came up. Unfortunately, I will always need to do this - it seems to be a bug (wrong userid).

If you are sure that it's a bug, please report it in the public bug tracker. You can find a link in the FAQ (see my signature) at the bottom. You do need to register for a new account there though, your forum one won't work. Be as specific as possible.

Ok - I'll post a bug.

I think I've also run into another bug - the CTRL key doesn't seem to make it through, neither as a "HOST" key (right ctrl) nor into any applications, e.g. on 32-bit ubuntu host, Windows7 RC guest, NO control key sequence seems to make it thru (e.g. copy/paste with CTRL-C CTRL-V doesn't work; in wordpad, CTRL-C enters the 'c' character instead of copying the selection....

I'll check this out a bit more, and post both bugs.
