increasing networking problems (only a comment)

Hi,
I use Ubuntu 8.10 under Virtualbox for windows xp on a Lenovo Thinkpad X301.
I need a stable version with stable networking, but nothing sophisticated.
under Virtualbox 2.2.2 everything was fine.
under Virtualbox 2.2.4, I had to re-setup the network-devices every now and then (especially when the network connection of my host changed, while the guest was on paused)
under Virtualbox 3.0.0 the network disconnected every few minutes, what is very annoying, since I use ssh a lot, and I have to reconnect all these open connections again.

So I switched back to 2.2.2 and everything is fine. simple default network settings.

don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of Virtualbox, but the new version is worse (for my needs).

cheers,
S.

It's strange that the .4 release is less stable than the .2 release on your system. We all know that a .0 release is bound to have a few issues and should be gradually fixed with minor releases. Will you test 3.0.2 when it's released and report back?

yes, will do that.
so far no problems with 2.2.2. no interruption, even after changing host-networks. I am very glad that it is actually no problem to switch back to older versions.
thanks so far,
S.

I also observed the same problems !

My guest is Ubuntu 9.04 Windows 7 (and Vista) Host and about 30% of the time after a boot it woul not be able to connect to the net.
(Using Bridge network)

Switching virtual network card helped a little

I am also moving back to 2.2.2 until 3.x.x
