Guest OS freezes during install, exactly at the moment of hardware detection and configuration (at the time of "35 minutes left"). Any clues? Perhaps some tricky hardware config of the virtual machine?
I've tried ACPI, 3D accel and others "on" and "off". No change.
Guest OS = Host OS = Windows XP Proffessional PL SP3

Re: Windows XP SP3 freezes during install (hardware detection)
Couple of things.
Do not assign more than 50% of the host ram to the guest. XP works/installs with 512Meg
Select the IntelPRO/1000 server for the virtual network adapter.
