Please note this question is not intended to violate any licensing. More out of curiosity. Is the vbox machine uuid a part of windows activation.
I created vm1 with disk vmdisk.vdi and activated windows 2008 guest. I cloned vmdisk.vdi --> vmdisk_clone.vdi. I could attach the vmdisk_clone.vdi to vm1.
I created another vm2 and copied the same networking info from vm1 to vm2. However when I attach vmdisk_clone.vdi to vm2 I need to reactivate windows 2008. This indicates that machine uuid is related to windows activation and not disk uuid.
Again, this is curiosity question and no other intent.
