Trying to run Virtualbox 3 freezes my ubuntu and requires a hard restart. I installed the .deb package for 64 bit operating systems. My log file shows the following:
Look in your computer bios and see if you have hardware-v turned on.
If you do not see it then you more than likely do not have it and since VBox requires hardware-v to run 64 bit software it will not work.
I indeed do not see any such thing as hardware-v in my bios. But isnt hardware-v a functionality to run 64 bit in a virtualized os?
The problem I have is that virtualbox (the 64 bit version) itself crashes, before I can even create a virtual machine. I tried the i386 .deb installation of virtualbox just to be sure, but indeed got an error message that the architecture I tried to install it on was wrong.
