Fullscreen in Windows 2000?

Post by BadAzz »

I have just installed Windows 2000 in VirtualBox, but I can't get the fullscreen to work proporly.

When I switch to fullscreen it just maximizes the window and the actual windows is still small with black background. How do I solve this?

Also, can I someway install other display drivers - right now the colors, etc. look kinda boring :)

Sure,

Open the guest and click on the devices tab in the upper left corner of the VBox window. Click install guest additions.
If nothing happens then click unmount and click install guest additions again. After the install reboot the guest.
Then use either the click drag to set the screen size of the hot keys in the Machine tab of VBox window.
Color depth can then be changed in the guest properties of windows.

Hello,

I am trying to follow your instructions. However, when I click on "install guest additions", I receive an error message saying "The image "VirtualBox Guest Additions" could not be found. Would you like to download it from the web?" I click on yes, then I get another message: "would you really like to download the file http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualb ... _2.0.4.iso (0 bytes)?" So I click on "Download". Then, VirtualBox tries to download it for a while but, after a while, it tells me that the download failed (timeout).

I then tried to download these guest additions via the Synaptic Package Manager (I am running Ubuntu as a host system), but I cannot see any difference compared to what I had before.

Is there another way to install these guest additions? Or where can I find this iso file that should contain them?

Thank you!

You're using the OSE version, so the GA aren't shipped with it by default. You can find the GA ISO on the location you just linked to. The link works just fine for me, I get a download popup for an iso file of 26.7 MB. When downloading the GA from http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox you have to be sure to use the same version that you are running. It will be of no use to download and install the 3.0.2 GA when you're using 2.0.4 of VB. In fact, isn't not advised because of the feature differences and can cause major issues.
