Hello,

I'm using the 3.0.0 version of virtualbox and i have a problem to insert some characters : # @ and pipe.
I virtualize a debian etch and it's impossible to comment a conf file for example.
How can i do to fix this problem ?

Thank you

What keyboard layout are you using?

Try modifying /etc/default/console-setup with the correct one. (I don't use debian, but crunchbang, which is a debian/ubuntu derivative, has the file in that location).

You didn't answer my question; what layout is the keyboard you are using?

Where does it print incorrect characters? In X-windows? On the console? Or both?

Sorry, i'm using an azerty keyboard (i'm french).
My problem is for the console because i did'nt install a x-server.
And it doesn't print any of special characters actually... :-S

With debian etch it's the same problem but i found something...
when i use some special characters on my virtual debian it's works because i'm on local's windows host.
But when i try with the "remote desktop" (i don't know if translation is good), it doesn't works.

If someone could tell me why it doesn't works and find a solution, it will be nice
Thank you

So it's only with RDP? Odd, is your keyboard layout on the RDP client the same as your VM? If not, that's probably the problem. Even so, SSH is better than RDP anyway, since you don't even have X installed ;).
